The “Holiday / Holy Days Month” of “TISHREI / TISHRI” is over now. A new Month as commenced on YAH’S Calendar. Its name is “CHESHVAN / HESHVAN”. The Month is also called “MAR-CHESHVAN” but shortened to “CHESHVAN / HESHVAN”. This is the time to take the inspiration and all that we gained in the month of Tishrei and integrate it into our lives, learning how to balance the spiritual and the physical elements of our life in unison and harmony.
” Mar means “bitter” — an allusion to the fact that the month contains no festive days. Mar also means “water”, alluding to the month’s special connection with rains (the 7th of Cheshvan is the day on which Jews begin praying for rain (in the Holy Land), and the Great Flood, which we read about in this week’s Torah reading, began on Cheshvan 17th).
To YAH, it is the 8th Month when counting from the Month of “Nisan / Nissan / Abib” as per Exodus 12:1. However, before Exodus 12:1, it was the 2nd Month when counting from the Original First Month of the Year of “Tishrei / Tishri” as per Genesis 1.
YAH did not give HIS Months and Days names. HE numbered them. However, when the Children of Israel arrived in the PROMISED LAND and mixed with the Canaanites who had been settled there a long time, they ended up adopting some of their ways of doing things. One of the adoptions was the names of the months and days of the year.
What is this Month all about?

A MONTH OF NEW BEGINNINGS
Cheshvan is the only month that does not have any holidays or special mitzvot. The Orthodox Jews are taught that this Month is “reserved” for the time of “Messiah”, who will inaugurate the Third Temple in the month of Cheshvan / Heshvan. The MESSIANIC BELIEVERS understand this to be the FALSE MESSIAH also known as ANTI-MESSIAH / ANTI-CHRIST.
On YAH’S / Biblical calendar, the month of Cheshvan (חֶשְׁוָן) immediately follows the “holiday month” of Tishri, though it is sometimes called Mar-Cheshvan (“bitter Cheshvan“) because there are no festivals during the month (“neither feast nor fast”) and it marks the start of the cold and rainy season in the HOLY LAND OF ISRAEL.
It was in the month of “CHESHVAN / HESHVAN” that YAH brought down the Flood that destroyed the world as recorded in the TORAH. It was Cheshvan 17th. Noah was 600 years when the Flood started.
I find it interesting that Noah was actually 600 years when it happened keeping in mind that “6” is the “Number of MANKIND”. That further speaks loud about the fact that it was judgment against MANKIND for MANKIND’S SINS against YAH.

10 After the seven days, the floodwaters were upon the land. 11 In the six-hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on this day, all the water sources of the great deep burst open, and the windows of the sky were opened.
One year later, in the same Month of Cheshvan 27th, the Flood stopped. Noah was 601 years by this time. It is interesting that this was recorded in the 8th Chapter of the Book of Genesis which signifies “NEW BEGINNINGS”.

The Flood Subsides
14 By the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the land was dry.
Due to the fact that THE GREAT FLOOD occurred during this Month of Cheshvan / Heshvan, this Month is regarded as “MAR” which implies judgment and hardship.
History reveals that during this Month of Cheshvan / Heshvan, Jews around the world throughout the ages have experienced a lot of suffering of various sorts, for example, the German Nazis launched their campaign terror against the Jewish people during this month and some after that on Cheshvan 15th, the “Holocaust” in Germany was actually initiated during this month, that is to say 9th November 1938. The initial purpose was to disarm the German Jews however, it ended up being expanded to genocide of 6 million Jews. There was a lot of cruelty and torture towards the Jewish people at the time.

Despite all the bitterness associated with the Month of Cheshvan / Heshvan, there is hope in the Jews that one day, things our SORROW WILL BE TURNED INTO JOY as seen in Psalm 30. It is believed that the THIRD TEMPLE will be INAUGURATED during this Month of Cheshvan / Heshvan. For the MESSIANIC BELIEVERS though, this will be the “TRIBULATION TEMPLE” as seen in the Book of Hanukkah, where the Anti-Messiah / Anti-Christ will betray Israel about half-way through the final “week” (seven years) mentioned in Daniel’s Prophecy. Indeed, it will only be after MESSIAH YAHUSHUA comes to rule and reign during HIS MILLENNIAL REIGN from the year 7000 that all HOPE will be properly fulfilled.
The Month of “CHESHVAN / HESHVAN is associated with the tribe of “MANASSEH”. “”MANASSEH” means “TO FORGET THE PAIN OF THE PAST”. This is the Month to be RESTORED FROM THE PAST and FIND A NEW BEGINNING!
The GREAT FLOOD began in the Month of Cheshvan and ended the following year in the same Month of Cheshvan. When it ended, YAH revealed the SIGN OF HIS COVENANT FAITHFULNESS which was symbolised by THE RAINBOW. So Cheshvan is the “MONTH OF YAH’S GRACE”!
Who was “MANASSEH”?
- The FIRST BORN SON OF JOSEPH while in Egypt.
- His Birth helped Joseph to forget all the PAIN and INJUSTICE in his life hence Joseph naming him “MANASSEH”.
“MANASSEH” and his brother “EPHRAIM” were greatly loved by their grandfather Israel / Jacob. In fact Israel adopted them as his own and pronounced GREAT BLESSINGS OVER THEM.

The Blessings over Manasseh and Ephraim
12 Then Joseph took them from his knees and bowed with his face down to the ground. 13 Then Joseph took the two of them—Ephraim with his right hand across from Israel’s left, and Manasseh with his left hand across from Israel’s right—and brought them close to him. 14 But Israel stretched out his right hand and placed it upon Ephraim’s head (though he was the younger), and his left hand upon Manasseh’s head, crossing his hands (though Manasseh was the firstborn). 15 Then he blessed Joseph and said,

YAH answered Israel’s prayer by SHOWERING GREAT BLESSINGS on Ephraim and Manasseh. Ephraim and Manasseh were GREATLY BLESSED that their BLESSINGS became a STANDARD by which BLESSINGS are measured. In fact, when Jews pray a BLESSING over THEIR SONS on SHABBAT, they pray that YAH would make them like Ephraim and Manasseh.
The TRIBE OF MANASSEH birthed GREAT WARRIORS like GIDEON and JEPHTHAH. MANASSEH’S TRIBE was able to stand against its enemies and gain GREAT VICTORIES!
When ISRAEL / CHILDREN OF ISRAEL made it to the PROMISED LAND, the TRIBE OF MANASSEH was given THE BEST OF THE LAND. They got the LARGEST SECTION OF THE LAND EAST OF THE JORDAN. They also got the SECOND LARGEST SECTION ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE JORDAN.
The TERRITORY of MANASSEH was the RICHEST and MOST PRODUCTIVE PART OF THE PROMISED LAND.
MANASSEH, really was the MOST BLESSED TRIBE!
Sadly, MANASSEH was NOT LOYAL TO YAH! When the 10 Norther Tribes rebelled against JUDAH / YAHUDAH, sadly, MANASSEH joined them. King Jeroboam set up 2 Golden Calves and told the people to worship them instead of going to YAH’S Temple in YAHRUSHALAYIM/ JERUSALEM. Manasseh turned from the TRUE YAH and started worshipping the Golden Calves. YAH sent PROPHET after PROPHET to warn them! In fact, Elijah and Elisha worked great wonders! Jonah, Amos and Hosea all gave to the unfaithful nation! While there were brief periods of PARTIAL REPENTANCE, MANASSEH repeatedly turned away from YAH! Eventually because of the continued IDOLATRY, YAH’S JUDGEMENT FELL! YAH allowed the 10 Northern Tribes to be conquered by the Assyrians. MANASSEH’S people were carried off as captives. The Assyrians carried off the best of the best, such as their WARRIORS, SKILLED ARTISANS, EDUCATED. All that was left was the SCATTERED REMNANT.
MANASSEH became “ONE OF THE LOST TRIBES OF ISRAEL”. For centuries, everyone assumed that MANASSEH was totally destroyed hence,
MANASSEH was the SYMBOL of the JUDGEMENT OF THE TERRIBLE YAH and yet MANASSEH also DEMONSTRATES YAH’S GRACE!
MANASSEH sinned, MANASSEH was JUDGED by YAH. Nevertheless, YAH has not forgotten MANASSEH.
Concerning the RESTORATION OF MANASSEH, A remote tribal group in India called “BNEI MANASSEH/ SONS OF MANASSEH”.
They claim to be the Descendants of Manasseh who were carried off into captivity by the Assyrians 27 centuries ago. According to the following article, once the people got into captivity, MANASSEH REPENTED by turning back to the YAH of their FORE-FATHERS and YAH preserved them.
Having carefully examined them, they were granted permission by the Chief Rabbi in Israel to return to the HOLY LAND OF ISRAEL.
After 27 century exile, the TRIBE OF MANASSEH is back!

102 members of a Jewish community claiming descent from one of Israel’s lost tribes are being brought on Aliyah this week from India.
Another 102 members of the Bnei Menashe Jewish community, which claims descent from one of Israel’s lost tribes, are being brought on Aliyah this week by Shavei Israel, a Jerusalem-based nonprofit that aims to strengthen ties between the Jewish people and descendants of Jews around the world.
The 102 new immigrants all hail from the northeastern Indian state of Mizoram, which borders Burma and Bangladesh and is home to the second-largest concentration of Bnei Menashe in India after that of the state of Manipur. This marks the first time since Jan. 2014 that Bnei Menashe will be making Aliyah from Mizoram. Thirty of the new immigrants will arrive in Israel on Tuesday, Feb. 14, and 72 will arrive on Thursday, Feb. 16. They plan to settle in the Galilee city of Nazareth Illit which already has a flourishing Bnei Menashe community.“We are excited to be launching Operation Menashe 2017 with the Aliyah this week of 102 Bnei Menashe from Mizoram,” said Shavei Israel Founder and Chairman Michael Freund. “Over the course of the coming year, with G-d’s help, we will bring a total of more than 700 Bnei Menashe immigrants to Israel – the largest-ever airlift in a single year.”Freund added: “After 27 centuries of exile, this lost tribe of Israel is truly coming home. But we will not rest until all the remaining Bnei Menashe still in India are able to make Aliyah as well.”The Bnei Menashe are believed to be descendants of the tribe of Manasseh, one of the Ten Lost Tribes exiled from the Land of Israel more than 2,700 years ago by the Assyrian empire. So far, some 3,000 Bnei Menashe have made Aliyah thanks to Shavei Israel, including more than 1,100 in the past four years. Some 7,000 Bnei Menashe remain in India waiting for the chance to return home to Zion.Also arriving with the group are Mizmor Sharon and her two children. Mrs. Sharon’s husband, Shomron, died two weeks ago after a long battle with cancer, while the family was still in India waiting to make Aliyah.“My children and I are heartbroken that their father didn’t live to see his dream of making Aliyah come true,” said Mrs. Sharon. “But we are excited to be making this journey and to honor his legacy by building our new lives in the Jewish homeland. I am sure that he will be with us in spirit with every step that we take on the holy soil of Israel.”
The TRIBE OF “MANASSEH” is a PICTURE OF YAH’S JUDGEMENT and also a PICTURE OF YAH’S GRACE. Thi s is the month to know that YAH judges sin but is also FULL OF GRACE for those who are willing to return to HIM.
So, CHESHVAN / HESHVAN is the MONTH to see where you have messed up in the PAST and REPENT!
It is a MONTH to celebrate the GOODNESS and FAITHFULNESS OF YAH! It is a MONTH that YAH always keeps HIS COVENANT.
YAH’S GRACE is also demonstrated through NOAH’S ARK before and during the GREAT FLOOD as well as YAH’S COVENANT with Noah and his descendants after THE GREAT FLOOD which also occurred during this month.

Note that Ancient Jews taught that the “SONS OF YAH” were actuallyDEMONIC BEINGS WHO ENTERED THE EARTH REALM TO BREED WITH HUMANS. I have come to an understanding that some HOLY ANGELS who were in the HEAVENS were persuaded by Satan to sin against YAHUVEH/YAHWEH GOD by having sexual relations with mankind and animals. The result were human beings called NEPHILIM, RAPHAIM, ANAKIM and animals called DINOSAURS, etc.
The OFFSPRING between the now fallen angels who are also referred to as DEMONIC BEINGS and the HUMANS were called NEPHILIM (“fallen ones” a.k.a mighty men of old, men of re-known). They were referred to as “demi-gods” and were appeared in legends of many nations, such as Greece, India, Rome, China > Mighty Warriors – EVIL!!!
The result of in-breeding with demons means that the human race became demonised. Humanity gave itself to every form of rebellion against YAH. Demons can NOT be redeemed! A human race that is interbred with demons COULD NOT receive SALVATION! So YAH’S JUDGMENT had to FALL on the earth!!!
JUDGEMENT had come but YAH preserved a REMNANT.
The human race had turned from YAH and interbred with demons. They were in total rebellion against YAH! And YAH’S JUDGEMENT was decreed.
In the Month of Cheshvan, YAH wants us to know that JUDGEMENT IS REAL! YAH does NOT enjoy JUDGMENT. HE is always patient and wants us to REPENT. Noah preached to his generation urging them to REPENT while the ARK was being prepared however nobody was ready to pay attention. Just because YAH is patient does NOT meant that JUDGEMENT will come! There will always come a time for JUDGEMENT. We can NOT sin all we want to and get away with it. NOAH FOUND GRACE IN YAH’S EYES!
THE STORIES OF THE GREAT FLOOD AND MANASSEH are about JUDGMENT and GRACE! Just as YAH gave GRACE to Manasseh, YAH gave GRACE to Noah in the midst of the GREAT FLOOD.
Even when the world is under JUDGEMENT, YAH gives HIS people GRACE! GRACE came in the Month of Cheshvan!
Cheshvan is also the Month of NEW BEGINNINGS. Cheshvan is the 8th Month. 8 is the number for NEW BEGINNINGS. The GREAT FLOOD did not only begin in the Month of Cheshvan but it also ended in the Month of Cheshvan. Noah and his family left the Ark in Cheshvan. YAH made HIS COVENANT with him never to destroy the earth with a flood and gave a COVENANT SIGN which was the RAINBOW.
The Month of CHESHVAN is a Month to remember the REALITY OF JUDGEMENT! It is a MONTH to TURN TO YAH and RECEIVE GRACE!
It is a MONTH to FORGET THE PAST PAIN and BE RESTORED TO YAH, and FIND A NEW BEGINNING!
It is a MONTH to RECEIVE YAH’S COVENANT PROMISE!
You can forget the PAIN OF THE PAST, for YAH says,

HISTORY OF EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE DURING TH MONTH OF “CHESHVAN / HESHVAN”:
Cheshvan 7
During the Second Temple Era (circa 230 BCE), Cheshvan 7 was the date on which the Jew most distant from the Holy Temple — who resided on the banks of the Euphrates River, a 15-day journey’s distance from Jerusalem — arrived at his homestead upon returning from the Sukkot pilgrimage. All Jews would wait for this before beginning to pray for rain. Cheshvan 7 thus marked the return to everyday activities following the spirituality of the festival-rich month of Tishrei.
Cheshvan 11
Methuselah, the longest-lived human being of all time, died at the age of 969 years on the 11th of Cheshvan of the year 1656 from creation (2105 BCE) — exactly seven days before the beginning of the Great Flood. Methuselah was Adam’s great-great-great-great-great-grandson and Noah’s grandfather.
The matriarch Rachel died in childbirth on the 11th of Cheshvan of the year 2208 from creation (1553 BCE) while giving birth to her second son, Benjamin.
Rachel was born in Aram (Mesopotamia) approximately 1585 BCE. Her father wasLaban, the brother of Jacob’s mother, Rebecca. Jacob came to Laban’s home in 1576 BCE, fleeing the wrath of his brother Esau. He fell in love with Rachel and worked for seven years tending Laban’s sheep in return for her hand in marriage. But Laban deceived his nephew, and on the morning after the wedding Jacob discovered that he had married Rachel’s elder sister, Leah. Laban agreed to give him Rachel as a wife as well in return for another seven years’ labor.
Rachel was childless for many years, while her elder sister and rival gave birth to six sons and a daughter in succession. Finally, in 1562 BCE, she gave birth to Joseph. Nine years later, while Jacob and his family were on the road to Jacob’s ancestral home in Hebron (after a 22-year absence), she gave birth to a second son, but died in childbirth. Jacob buried her by the roadside, in Bethlehem; there, “Rachel weeps over her children, for they are gone [in exile]” (Jeremiah 31:14). Her tomb has served as a place of prayer for Jews for more than 35 centuries.
Cheshvan 12
Yitzhak Rabin, Commander-in-Chief of the IDF during the Six Day War and later Prime Minister of Israel, was assassinated on this date in 5756 (1995).
Cheshvan 15
In the 2nd century before the common era, the Holy Land was ruled by the Seleucids (Syrian-Greeks) who, with the collaboration of the Jewish Hellenists, introduced pagan idols into the Holy Temple and set about to forcefully Hellenize the people of Israel. Mattityahu, the son of the High Priest Yochanan, was already an old man when he picked up a sword and raised the flag of revolt in the village of Modiin in the Judean hills. Many rallied under his cry, “Who that is for G-d, come with me!” and resisted and battled the Greeks from their mountain hideouts.
After heading the revolt for one year, Mattityahu died on the 15th of Cheshvan of the year 3622 from creation (139 BCE). His five sons — the “Macabees” Judah, Yochanan, Shimon, Elazar and Yonatan — carried on the battle to their eventual victory, celebrated each year since by Jews the world over with the festival of Chanukah.
On this night in 1938 and continuing into the next day — November 9 on the secular calendar — the Nazis coordinated vicious pogroms against the Jewish community of Germany. Encouraged by their leaders, rioters attacked and beat Jewish residents, burned and destroyed 267 synagogues, vandalized 7,500 Jewish businesses, and ransacked countless Jewish cemeteries, hospitals, schools, and homes, while police and firefighters stood by. Ninety-one Jews were killed and 20,000 others were deported to concentration camps.
These pogroms, which collectively came to be known as Kristallnacht (“night of broken glass,” referring to the thousands of windows that were broken) were a turning point after which Nazi anti-Jewish policy intensified.
Cheshvan 17
The rains began to fall on the 17th of Cheshvan of the year 1656 from creation (2105), flooding the earth and rising above the highest mountains. Only Noah and his family survived, in the ark built to that end by Divine command, and a pair of each animal species, who entered with him into the ark.
The following is a chronology of the Flood, as indicated by the dates and time periods given in the Torah’s account and calculated by Rashi:
Cheshvan 17: Noah enters ark; rains begin.
Kislev 27: Forty days of rain end; begin 150 days of water’s swelling and churning, during which the water reaches a height of 15 cubits above the mountain peaks.
Sivan 1: Water calms and begins to subside at the rate of one cubit every four days.
Sivan 17: The bottom of the ark, submerged 11 cubits beneath the surface, touches down on the top of Mount Ararat.
Av 1: The mountain peaks break the water’s surface.
Elul 10:Forty days after the mountain peaks becom visible, Noah opens the ark’s window and dispatches a raven.
Elul 17: Noah sends the dove for the first time.
Elul 23: The dove is sent a second time, and returns with an olive leaf in its beak.
Tishrei 1: Dove’s third mission. Water completely drained.
Cheshvan 27: Ground fully dried. Noah exits ark.
(This chronology follows the opinion of the Talmudic sage Rabbi Eliezer; according to Rabbi Joshua’s interpretation, the Flood began on Iyar 17, and all above dates should be moved ahead six months.)
Total time that Noah spent in the ark: 365 days (one solar year; one year and 11 days on the lunar calendar).
Cheshvan 18
- Lisbon Earthquake (1755)
A great earthquake struck Lisbon, Portugal, destroying much of the city including the courthouse of the Inquisition.
Cheshvan 23
In Talmudic times, Cheshvan 23 was commemorated as the day on which the stones of the altar which were defiled by the Greeks were removed from the Holy Temple.
On the 27th of Cheshvan of the year 1657 from creation (2104 BCE) “the earth dried” (Genesis 8:14) completing the 365-day duration of the great flood that wiped out all life on earth save for the eight human beings and and the animals (two of each species) in Noah’s ark; on this day G-d commanded Noah to “Come out of the ark” and repopulate, settle and civilize the earth.
The city of Mumbai, India, was hit with a series of coordinated terror attacks, starting on Wednesday evening, the 29th of Cheshvan 5769, which left close to 200 dead and scores more injured.
One of the terrorists’ chosen targets was the local Chabad House, known as the “Nariman House,” operated by Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries Rabbi Gavriel Noach (Gabi) and Rivkah (Rivki) Holtzberg.
In the subsequent standoff, which continued until Friday afternoon, Gabi and Rivki and several other Jews in the Chabad House – Rabbis Bentzion Chroman and Leibish Teitelbaum, Norma Schwartzblatt-Rabinowitz and Yocheved Orpaz – were killed in cold blood. May G‑d avenge their murders.
Miraculously, the Holtzbergs’ two-year-old child, Moshe, was saved by his nanny.
