Updated (March 2021) MESSIANIC PASSOVER (PESACH) SEDER

Psalm 51, Ask for forgiveness of sin and wash yourselves in YAHUSHUA’S BLOOD – Consecrate yourselves.

INTRODUCTION:
Read Exodus 12; Matthew 26:17-25; Luke 22:7-23

THE LORD YAHUSHUA’S SUPPER FINDS ITS ORIGIN AND FULLNESS IN THE PASSOVER and THE PASSOVER WITHOUT THE LORD’S SUPPER IS ONLY A CUP THAT IS HALF FULL!

Note that the foundation of Passover (Moses) is in The OLD COVENANT (Testament) however there are elements from The NEW COVENANT OF YAHUSHUA which are very much related and symbolic. It is all about YAHUSHUA (JESUS, not Yeshua!!!).

On Passover, we taste the full Cup of Passover of The Old and New Covenants, HalleluYAH!

The NEW COVENANT GIVES US FULL ACCESS TO/ENTRANCE INTO THE KINGDOM OF YAH (GOD) by THE TABLE OF HIS COVENANT!

1. We start by lighting the Festival Candles and then say Blessing!

Blessed Are YOU O YAH, Our GOD, KING of the universe, YOU have sanctified us with YOUR WORD and Commanded us to observeTHE Passover, in YAHUSHUA’S Name, Amen!

2. RITUAL HAND-WASHING

Now, it’s time to wash our hands (Exodus 30:21-29; John 13:3-17) The servant of the Passover leads this. It is usually the head of the house (father, mother depending on the family) Pour the water 3 times on each hand.

It is an everlasting ordinance from Generation to Generation! Exodus 12:14

There is an Order we follow when eating at the Passover Table so make sure youare not so hungry at the start of the Seder.

The Order is placed on a Special Passover Table called a Seder Plate. The Seder Plate tells THE STORY OF EVERY HOME AS IN THE BOOK OF EXODUS – The Deliverance out of Slavery! There can be more than one Seder Plate on the Passover Dining Table depending on how long and large the table is and how many are attending.

The dining table is set up in a very Special way – like that if a royal family and Dinner date with candles and various decorations. We use bright coloured table cloths including White, Gold, Silver. We are Royals, HalleluYAH (1 Peter 2:9-10).

The Seder plate is the cornerstone of the Passover Seder. It’s where we place the 6 symbolic Passover food items (coming up next)

Seder Plate Items
There are six traditional Seder plate items:

Charoset: A brown spread made of nuts, blended apples, cinnamon, and red wine. It’s a symbol for the brick & mortar that we, the Hebrew people/Jews (Romans 11) were forced to put together to build the Egyptian buildings and pyramids for Pharaoh. He didn’t pay us.

Maror – Bitter herbs (horseradish or romaine lettuce): A symbol of the bitterness of slavery our ancestors suffered from in Egypt. Maror comes from the Hebrew word “Mar” – which literally means “bitter”.

Shank bone of a very small lamb(1 year)– Zeroah: reminds us that it took the sacrifice of a lamb whose blood was spread on the doorposts and lintels for the Angel of THE LORD YAHUVEH (YAHWEH) whose assignment was to kills all first borns to pass over our homes thereby breaking the curse of the death, HalleluYAH!

Egg – Beitzah: Represents Life (It’s the month of Nisan/Aviv, therefore spring time; we are rebirth through YAHUSHUA’S Sacrifice) and New Beginnings. It also signifies THE HOLY GODHEAD TRINITY (FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT!

Karpas (parsley or celery): A symbol for hope and renewal. During the Seder – we dip the Karpas in saltwater – a symbol of the tears and pain the Jews endured as slaves.

Chazeret (romaine lettuce or endive): The second type of Maror – bitter herbs. During the Seder, we make a “Chazeret” sandwich with two Matzot – known as “Korech Sandwich”.

Matzo (or Matzah) is the unleavened bread we eat during the 8 days of Passover to commemorate our ancestor’s exodus from Egypt as well as humility. They were humbled. Exodus 12:15; Matthew 16:5-12/Luke 12/Mark 8; Galatians 5:9; 1 Corinthians 5:7-9.

A LAMB (YAHUSHUA) has been provided for every home to be delivered from the Power of sin and death.

3. THE 4 CUPS OF WINE
At every Passover, there are 4 cups of Grape Juice/Wine!

The Blessing over the wine/Grape Juice while holding the Cup of Wine/Grape Juice in the air:
Blessed Are YOU O YAH, Our GOD, KING of the universe who brings forth the fruit from the Vine, in YAHUSHUA’S Name, Amen!

Drink

4. PARSLEY DIPPED IN SALTY WATER
Although any green leafy vegetable can be used, parsley is used as it signifies the start of Spring, New Life and the time of year for the Passover feast. It is dipped in salty water to represent our many tears shed as we remember our lives of hopelessness. In Egypt, there was a lot of suffering. Our ancestors shed many tears. Exodus 2:23; Exodus 3:7-10

The Blessing over the parsley while holding the parsley in the air:

Blessed Are YOU, O YAH Our LORD and KING of the earth 🌎 who creates the fruit of the earth 🌎, in YAHUSHUA’S Name, Amen!

Now take the parsley and dip it into the salty water and partake together. Notice the saltiness and remember the teas of a broken heart. Psalm 56:8; Revelation 7:17

5. Why do we do this?

(The children ask and the grown-ups answer.)

Exodus 13:14 NKJV
So it shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you shall say to him, ‘By strength of hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

6. MAGID/THE TELLING OF THE STORY

Genesis 37 – Exodus 15

You can read this in advance and then write a summary of the story which you then tell the summarised version at the Passover Table.

7. (Ma Nishtana Ha Lailah Hazeh, Mike Ha Leilot?)

(The children ask and the grown-ups answer hence we practise this in advance.)

8. MATZAH/THE BREAD OF AFFLICTION

Lift 1 up in the air and say the following:

This is the Bread of Affliction. Let all who arehungry come andeat. Let all who are in need, come and share the Passover meal.

Then we talk about the Afikomen (a.k.a Afikoman).
There is aspecial unity of 3 loaves of the bread of affliction kept in a special pouch or white piece of clothing set aside for a special purpose.

storing matzo on the holiday passove embroidered in a bag.

Only the middle one is taken out and broken after which one half is placed inside a white linen cloth and wrapped the hidden somewhere in the house. It is buried. It needstocomeback at the end of themeal.

Afikomen means “I WILL COME AGAIN!”

The mysteries here are hidden from some people however they are hidden in plain sight/view for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.

Notice the Matzah/Bread of Affliction. It is Pierced, Stripped and Bruised (Isaiah 53:5-8).

The Bread is Representative of the fact that there is one Coming who will be pierced for our transgressions, bruised for our inequities, by HIS Stripes we would be healed/restored, etc – YAHUSHUA, HalleluYAH!

The Special Bread is not puffed up (no leaven, no yeast). In the Scriptures, the leaven and yeast represent sin and pride.

Our MESSIAH, YAHUSHUA was without  sin and pride.

We now take a piece of the Matzah and share it amongst ourselves at the table remembering that we are sharing YAHUSHUA’S BODY as HE Commanded us.

We say Blessing over the bread as follows:
Blessed Are YOU, O YAH, Our GOD, KING of the universe WHO brings forth bread out of the land, in YAHUSHUA’S Name, Amen!

LORD, we give YOU thanks for this special bread and for the mystery revealed in it, in YAHUSHUA’S Name, Amen!

We become ONE IN SPIRIT with YAHUSHUA, HalleluYAH  We are also HIS BODY hence we are afflicted just as HE was for  HIS Sake.

John 6:53-58

It is when we partake of the Passover Sedee Meal that we begin to understand what HE meant, HalleluYAH!

9. BITTER HERBS (Can read the secondquestion and answer it👆 again.)

On all other nights, we eat all kinds of vegetables. On this night, we eat bitter herbs to remind us of how terrible life was as slaves.

The Egyptians worked our ancestors, the Israelites ruthlessly. They made their lives bitter with hard labour, in brick and mortar and all kinds of the fields.

Now, let us take our matzah, dip it in bitter herbs and say blessing as follows:

Blessed Are YOU, O YAH, Our GOD, KING of the universe WHO commands us to eat bitter herbs, in YAHUSHUA’S Name, Amen!

Now, we partake by eating and getting the taste of bitterness of slavery. You are allowed to cry.

10. CHAROSET; DIPPING THE VEGETABLES TWICE

On all other nights, we dip the vegetables once but on this night, we dip them twice. We have already dipped the parsley into the salty water. Now we will dip it, into the charoset. The charoset symbolises the mud usee to build bricks for Pharoah.

Now, let us partake of the Charoset (eat).

11. RECLINING AT THE TABLE
On all other nights, we sit up at the dinner table but on this night, we recline.

Exodus 6:6 NKJV
Therefore say to the children of Israel: (A)‘I AM  THE  LORD YAHUVEH (YAHWEH); (B)I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will (C)rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with [a]an outstretched arm and with great judgments.

On the very first Passover Night, the meal was shared in a hurry because they were still slaves but tonight we recline or relax as free people. Now, let us read as follows:

Exodus 12:11 NKJV
11 And thus you shall eat it: [a]with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. (A)It is the LORDYAHUVEH’S Passover.

*12. 2ND CUP: CUP OF JUDGEMENT*
Exodus 6:7 NKJV
I will (A)take you as MY People, and (B)I will be your GOD. Then you shall know that I AM  THE LORD YAHUVEH (YAHWEH) your GOD who brings you out (C)from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

Egypt/Mitzrayim was a very powerful Nation. They were the strongest and biggest and wealthiest. In ancient times, it was believed that such a nation that is the biggest and strongest is the one which served the true God. So, they were feared.

Through this second CUP, YAH is demonstrating to all of Egypt, Israel and other nations that HE is the Only TRUE GOD!

So, the plagues which came upon Egyot was not so much about the people but rather a demonstration that THE GOD OF ISRAEL THE GOD of all gods is more powerful than any other god in this world for HE conquered every other god, HalleluYAH! It was a war between YAH and other gods!!!!

This is a good time to sing the song that says:
All Other gods, they are the works of men
YAH, YOU Are The Only GOD,
There Is None Like YOU.

A full CUP is considered to be a joyful thing however we are also remembering the pain and suffering of the Children of Mitzrayim (Egypt) as they served false gods, we diminish our cup one drop at a time as we remember each of the gods that were overcome by the GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC, JACOB.

Each one at the Passover Seder Table dips his or her smallest finger into the wine in the cup then place the drop of wine onto a napkin as you say the plague, so 10 drops for 10 plagues – 1 drop for each plague.

(i) Water turned to blood
(ii) Frogs
(iii) Lies
(iv) Flies
(v) Sick Cattle
(vi) Boils
(vii) Hail with fire
(viii) Locusts
(ix) 3 Days of Darkness
(x)Death of the first born

Each of the Ten Plagues represented a small god of Egypt (Mitzrayim) so each plague was directed towards a god of Egypt thereby demonstrating YAH’S Power as THE ONE TRUE GOD, THE GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob which was felt by every man, woman, child and beasts of the earth.

13. HILLEL SANDWICH

There are many things represented on our Passover Table however the most important of them all are:
👉Matzah
👉Lamb shank bone and
👉Bitter herbs

These are to be highlighted.

We will now make a Hillel Sandwich. This is named after a Rabbi called Hillel, a very famous person in Biblical History the grandfather of Rabbi Gamaliel who was the Teacher of Apostle Paul as mention in Acts 22:3 who taught that the importsnce ofvthe Lamb, Matzah and bitter herbs must be discussed at Passover table so as to highlight the meaning of Passover.

Acts 22:3 New King James Version
3 (A)“I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city (B)at the feet of (C)Gamaliel, taught (D)according to the strictness of our fathers’ law, and (E)was zealous toward YAH (F)as you all are today.

We have already discussed the importance of the Matzah/Bread of Affliction and bitter herbs. Now, let us discuss the importance of the lamb shank bone.

👉👉👉The Lamb shank bone on our seder plates reminds us that the lamb was sacrificed and that the blood on our doors marked us as members of YAH’S Family.

👉👉👉The lamb shank bone also reminds us that without the shedding of BLOOD (of YAHUSHUA, the LAMB OF YAH), there is no forgiveness and remission of sin. Tge COVENANT OF THE LORD, YAHUSHUA

WITHOUT THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB OF GOD AND HIS COVENANT WITH US, WE ARE LOST, without hope in the world!

Read the following together:

Exodus 12:5-7 New King James Version

The Passover Instituted(A)

12 And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be (D)without[a] blemish, a male [b]of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.

14. DINNER
There is an Ancient Saying popular in Israel as follows:

“They tried to kill us, (GOD) YAH saved us, Now let’s eat.”

Enjoy your dinner (mashed potatoes, matzah soup, etc – anything you can afford) It is already served. It is on the dinner or side table ready to eat.

15. AFIKOMEN (a.k.a AFIKOMAN)
The child or youngest person in the home searches for the Afikomen (in the same in which YAHUSHUA’S BODY was searched for).

Remember that YAHUSHUA said HE is  coming back.

It is tradition in Hebrew culture that this Afikomen once found is to be rredeemed through purchasung with silver. This is very interesting because THE BREAD OF HEAVEN, YAHUSHUA was purchased with 30 pieces of silver (betrayal by Judas).

It says in the Gospels that after the meal (dinner), YAHUSHUA took bread (1 Corinthians 11:22-26).
👉👉👉
So, the question is that which bread did he take?
There is bread all over the table!

The Afikomen is the bread which HE took. The ONE that was pierced, stripped and bruised reminding us of the Prophecy of Isaiah.

storing matzo on the holiday passove embroidered in a bag.

About this same bread, YAHUSHUA said that it HIS BODY broken for us. HE was in essence saying,

“This is MY BODY which was broken, stripped and bruised  for your sake but I AM COMING back, so take it and eat it all of you. “

This is what we call THE LORD’S SUPPER! It is hidden in this section of the Passove Seder. It is hidden in plain sight however it is hidden in plain sight for all to see. YAHUSHUA demonstrated and pushed back the veil over THE NEW COVENANT which was spoken of by Prophet Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 31:31-33 New King James Version

A NEW COVENANT

31 “Behold, the (A)days are coming, says THE  LORD YAHUVEH (YAHWEH) when I WILL MAKE A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH — 32 not according to the COVENANT that I made with their fathers in the day that(B)I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, MY COVENANT which they broke, [a]though I was a husband to them, says the LORD YAHUVEH (YAHWEH). 33 (C)But this is the covenant that I will make with the HOUSE OF ISRAEL after those days, says the LORD YAHUVEH (YAHWEH): (D)I will put My LAW in their minds, and write it on their [b]hearts; (E)and I will be their ELOHIM, and they shall be MY People.

Zechariah 9:11-13 New King James Version

YAH (GOD) Will Save HIS People

11 “As for you also, because of the BLOOD of your COVENANT,
I will set your (A)prisoners free from the waterless pit.

👉👉👉So, without THE PASSOVER SEDER, THE LORD’S SUPPER has no foundation!

👉👉👉Without THE LORD’S SUPPER, THE PASSOVER SEDER has no hope for mankind!

Matthew 26:26-27 New King James Version

YAHUSHUA (JESUS) Institutes the LORD’S SUPPER(A)
26 (B)And as they were eating, (C)YAHUSHUA (JESUS) took bread, [a]blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; (D)this is MY BODY.”

Now, with that understanding, lift up the bread and say the blessing as follows:

Blessed Are YOU, O YAH, Our GOD, KING of the universe YOU Bring Forth Bread from the earth, we receive YOUR BODY in YAHUSHUA’S Name, Amen!

16. 3RD CUP: CUP OF REDEMPTION

Pour some grape juice/wine into your glasses (half, not full because we are still remembering YAHUSHUA’S Suffering).

Exodus 6:5-7 New King James Version
And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered MY COVENANT. Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I AM THE LORD YAHUVEH; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with [a]an outstretched arm and with great judgments.I will take you as MY People, and I will be your (ELOHIM) GOD. Then you shall know that I AM THE LORD your (ELOHIM) GOD who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

Matthew 26:27 New King James Version

YAHUSHUA (JESUS) Institutes the Lord’s Supper(A)
27 Then HE took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, (E)“Drink from it, all of you.

Take the Wine/Grape Juice Cup, lift it up and say the following Blessing:

Blessed Are YOU, O YAH, Our GOD, KING of the universe, WHO Brings forth fruit from the Vine. YAHUSHUA, we thank YOU for YOUR BLOOD which was shed for us for the remission of sin and that by YOUR Stripes we, are healed, we thank YIU for YOUR Sacrifice which YOU poured out for us, we receive YOUR BLOOD, in YAHUSHUA’S Name, Amen!

13 I will take up the CUP OF SALVATION,
And call upon the NAME OF THE  LORD.

16. ELIJAH’S CUP

And the hearts of the children to their fathers,
Lest I come and (D)strike the earth with (E)a curse.”

Matthew 11:14

Daniel 12:9-10 New King James Version

And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 (A)Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, (B)but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but (C)the wise shall understand.

Revelation 10:4 New King James Version

Now when the seven thunders [a]uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying [b]to me, (A)“Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.”

17. 4TH & FINAL CUP: CUP OF PRAISE

This cup is full (full glass of wine/grape juice).

Exodus 6:7 New King James Version
I will take you as MY People, and I will be your (ELOHIM) GOD. Then you shall know that I AM THE LORD your (ELOHIM) GOD who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

Also, say the following together:

Matthew 26:29/Luke 22:18 New King James Version

29 But (A)I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on (B)until that day when I drink it new with you in MY FATHER’S  KINGDOM.”

Take the Wine/Grape Juice Cup, lift it up and say the following Blessing:

So we lift up The Cup of Praise and we give YOU Praise, YAHUSHUA for completing the work of SALVATION and breaking the yoke of slavery. The people of THE GREAT KING were set free to be part of the family of YAH.

YAHUSHUA will drink anew with us at the Marriage Supper of THELAMB and when HE returns to judge the nations of the earth🌏 (Revelation 22:16-17)

Blessed Are YOU, O YAH, Our GOD, KING of the universe, WHO Brings forth fruit from the Vine, in YAHUSHUA’S Name, Amen!
