According to the Holy Biblical Scriptures, Locusts have an appearance like that of horses.

What does this imply?

War! War! War!

 

Interestingly, the TORAH Parasha/Portion for this week (Sunday 6th to Saturday 12th January 2019) is called “Bo/Come or Go” (Exodus 10:1 – 13:16). It includes the release of the locusts in masses upon Mitzrayim/Egypt as one of the plagues (the 8th one).

ABBA YAHUVEH who is the Great “I AM THAT I AM” sent 10 plagues upon Mitzrayim/Egypt during the days of Moses and the Israelite bondage/slavery in Mitzrayim/Egypt as one of the Signs and Wonders that were meant to persuade Pharoah to release YAHUVEH’S people from bondage. One of them was the locusts.

 

 

In the very week that the locusts attacked Mecca (in Saudi Arabia) which is considered to be the holiest place in the world by Islam, Orthodox Jews and Messianic Jews around the world have read about the destruction of Mitzrayim’s plantations/vegetations by locusts.

THE “HEART” (Ha “LEV”, in Hebrew) OF MAN

 

In the following Holy Biblical Scriptures, the LORD YAHUVEH (a.k.a YAHWEH) makes a restoration promise to HIS Specially Set-apart people, Israel (1 Peter 2:9) with reference to the heart/lev of man:

The Hebrew word, “LEV” is made up of the “lamed” and “vav” Aleph-Bet letters which signify something.

We’ll do a short study on the “lamed” letter and the “vav” a.k.a “waw” Hebrew Aleph-Bet letters so as to understand the Spiritual Implications in relation to man’s relationship with YAH a.k.a ELOHIM Almighty as well as in relation to the locust plague.

We’ll not study the vowel as it’s not very important. 

 

The “Lamed”

• The “lamed” looks like a shepherd’s staff.

 

• It is constructed of the Hebrew Aleph (Alef)-Bet letters “kaph” and “vav”.

 

• It is the 12th Aleph-Bet letter with the numeric value of 30.

 

• It is considered to be the heart or central of the Hebrew Aleph-Bet as it rises above all the other letters. It is therefore said to represent “Melech Ha Melachim” (a.k.a “Melek Ha Melakhim”). The Hebrew pronunciation of the letter which is “lamed” comes from the Hebrew root word, “lamad” which means:

“To learn or teach”

(which first comes from Devarim/Deuteronomy 4:1)

²⁸ And the LORD YAHUVEH (a.k.a YAHWEH) uprooted them from their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.’

“….and cast them…..” – here, we see an oversized “lamed” letter used thus signifying that YAHUVEH Almighty displayed HIS Greatness through the benei-Y’isra’EL/ children of Israel.

 

In summary the “lamed” letter is all about the “Greatness of YAH Almighty” as well as “being teachable”!

The second letter within the word for “heart” in the Hebrew language is:

The “Vav” a.k.a “Waw”

• The “vav” a.k.a “waw” letter is the 6th with the numerical value of 6.

 

• It looks like a tent, peg however it can also look like a vertical line with a conjoined “yod”.

 

• It is pronounced with the sound “v” for “vine”.

 

• The Modern Hebrew name for this letter is “vav” , a word meaning:

“peg” or “hook.”

 

• This letter is used as:

a consonant with:

a “v” sound

and as:

a vowel with:

a “ow” and “uw” sound.

 

• The consonantal and vowel pronunciations of each of the consonant/vowel letters of the Ancient Hebrew language, which include:

the aleph,, hey,, vav, and yud,

……were closely related. For instance,

the letter hey is “h” and “eh”

and the pronunciations of

the letter yud is “y” and “iy.”

 

• Following this pattern, it is probable that the original pronunciation of the letter  was “w” as the vowel sounds associated with this letter are “ow” and “uw.”

 

• In addition, in the Modern Arabic language, this letter is pronounced with a “w.” Therefore, the original name of this letter would have been “waw” instead of “vav”, as it is in Modern Hebrew. 

 

• As the pictograph indicates, this letter represents a peg or hook, which is used for securing something.

 

The meaning of this letter is:

to add or secure. 

This letter is frequently used as a prefix to words to mean “and” in the sense of adding things together.

 

The Aleph-Bet letter “waw” (classic Hebrew) a.k.a “vav” (modern Hebrew) is used when describing the fastening of the Mishkan/Tabernacle of Moses.

It refers to the hooks of silver (amudim) which were used to fasten the curtain (yeriah) that encloses the tabernacle.

Note that this is where the idea of preserving TORAH Scrolls came from. It is believed that the TORAH is the habitation of YAH’S WORD today just as the Tabernacle was the habitation of YAH’S Divine Presence when travelling through the wilderness.

 

Remember that man is associated with the number 6:

• Man was created on the 6th day of creation

(Genesis 1-2)

• Man works for and is expected to work for 6 days weekly as per YAH’S design

(Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20, etc)

• There are 6 millenia before the Second Coming of the MASHIACH who is YAHUSHUA

(Book of The Secrets of Enoch)

• The mark of beast is identified as the number of man – 666

The first ever “vav” was broken by the first Adam

(through sin).

The second “vav” is to be fully restored by the Second Adam who is YAHUSHUA HA MASHIACH

So, back to the full word, “Lev”,

After breaking it down, when the spiritual implications of the “lamed” and ” vav” Hebrew letters are put together, what do we get?

• Through the Heart of man, the Greatness of YAH Almighty can be displayed greatly if only man totally gives way for YAH to take HIS place/seat there!

Now, the Study on the LOCUST Plague and what happened in Saudi Arabia:

In terms of food, the locust is the only kosher insect to be eaten as defined by YAHUVEH GOD Almighty in VaYikra/Leviticus 11 thus under Jewish kashrut law.

Apostle YAHuchanan/John ate them during his lifetime on the earth as recorded in the Gospels.

3 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, ² and saying, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!” ³ For this is he who was spoken of by the Prophet Isaiah, saying:

Kosher locusts are varieties of locust deemed permissible for consumption under the laws of kashrut (Jewish dietary law). While the consumption of most insects is forbidden under the laws of kashrut, the rabbis of the Talmud identified four kosher species of locust.

 Locusts eat their bodyweight in food every day. … Locust is the only insect which is considered kosher. Specific extracts in the Torah state that four types of desert locust – the red, the yellow, the spotted grey, and the white – can be eaten.

²² Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind.

²³ But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.

²⁴ And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even.

 

 

The locust looks like a grasshopper and a cricket. In fact, they are of the same family but different animals.

Grasshoppers tend to move around solitary however locusts can be both solitary as well as in masses.

Crickets tend to be noisy.

 

According to Wikipedia:

Locusts are certain species of short-horned grasshoppers in the family Acrididae that have a swarming phase. These insects are usually solitary, but under certain circumstances they become more abundant and change their behaviour and habits, becoming gregarious.

 

The locust  was the 8th plague in Ha Sefer Shemot(h)/the Book of Exodus.

8 is the number which signifies “New Beginnings” in YAHUVEH’S (a.k.a YAHWEH’S) Kingdom.

 

 

The locust was the 5th plague/woe in Ha Sefer Chizayon/the Book of Revelation.

5 is the number which signifies “Grace a.k.a Undeserved Favour” in YAHUVEH’S Kingdom.

 

 

ABBA YAHUVEH who is the Great “I AM THAT I AM” sent 10 plagues upon Mitzrayim/Egypt during the days of Moses and the Israelite bondage/slavery in Mitzrayim/Egypt as one of the Signs and Wonders that were meant to persuade Pharoah to release YAHUVEH’S people from bondage. One of them was the locusts.

It was certainly the start of New Beginnings for the children of Mitzrayim as well  as for the children of Israel but in different ways. After this came darkness and the death of the first born in the Book of Exodus. However, in the Ha Sefer Chizayon/the Book of Revelations, what came afterwards was the death of a third of mankind who had no seal of YAH Almighty on the earth.

The Eighth Plague: Locusts

10 Now the LORD YAHUVEH said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants, that I may show these signs of Mine before him, ² and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son’s son the mighty things I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD YAHUVEH.”

³ So Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh and said to him, “Thus says the LORD YAHUVEH GOD of the Hebrews: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? What do the locusts signify?

Destruction! Destruction! Destruction!

 

Note that YAHUVEH Almighty also spoke through Yo’EL Ha Navi/Prophet Joel concerning locusts as follows:

Joel 2:25-26 King James Version (KJV)

²⁵ And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

²⁶ And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD YAHUVEH your GOD, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

This is a Restoration Promise from YAHUVEH GOD Almighty to HIS Specially Set-apart people, Israel.

Note how the locust is described in this Holy Biblical Scripture. It is described as a destructive animal amongst others.

 

Whatever happened in Saudi Arabia this week (throughout the week running from Sunday 6th to Saturday 12th January 2019) was certainly a Divine Arrangement of YAH Almighty!

 

Locusts usually attack in masses places with vegetation. There is none in Mecca where they attacked however note that what happened is not just a physical thing.

It is a physical event with strong spiritual implications!

YAHUVEH Almighty is saying that HE has it in mind to destroy the place for good one day both spiritually and physically as it does not give GLORY to HIM in anyway whatsoever!

It is part of Babylon as it is part of Lucifer (a.k.a Azazel, Satan, the devil, that old serpent, etc) worship.

 

Note that the 10 plagues will be resent to the entire earth during the Great Tribulation a.k.a “Time of Jacob’s Trouble” in the future to come.

They will certainly not attack those who will have the Seal of Almighty YAHUVEH GOD and would have missed the Two Holy Raptures/Harvests (that is, One Holy Rapture at the start of the Great Tribulation and the Second Holy Rapture is due to take place some time half way through the Great Tribulation) from the earth to the Shammayim/Heavens to attend the Wedding/Marriage Feast/Supper of the Lamb of YAHUVEH, YAHUSHUA HA MASHIACH!

 

The locust was one of the woes sent to earth during the Great Tribulation a.k.a “Time of Jacob’s Trouble” mentioned in the Book of Revelation as follows:

Fifth Trumpet: The Locusts from the Bottomless Pit

9 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the ^[a]bottomless pit. ² And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit.

 

³ Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 

⁴ They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 

⁵ And ^[b]they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. 

⁶ In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

Once again, the locust is depicted as an instrument of destruction.

At this point, the inhabitants of the earth will still have an opportunity (that’s, YAH’S Grace/Undeserved Favour will still be available) to repent before YAH Almighty and be saved from YAH’S wrath/judgement but many will not, sadly. Their hearts will remain hardened just like Pharoah’s towards YAH Almighty rather!

 

The following Holy Biblical Scripture is closely related to what is prophesied throughout the Brit Chadashah/New Covenant or Testament most particularly in the Books of  Matthew 24 Thessalonians and Revelation. It points to the Great Tribulation a.k.a Time of Jacob’s Trouble! It also points out some prophesies spoken through Prophet Dani’EL and in the 1st and 2nd Books of the Maccabees.

Rend Your Heart

Note how the locusts here are described in a similar manner to that found in Revelation 9. They have an appearance like that of horses.

 

“Horses” are generally known to be symbols of War! This is how they are depicted throughout the Holy Biblical Scriptures.

Remember our teaching on YAHUSHUA HA MASHIACH riding on a donkey 4 days before Ha Moed Pesach/The Appointed Time of Passover during HIS First Coming to the earth?

In that teaching, we learn that a “donkey” is a symbol of peace meaning YAHUSHUA HA MASHIACH did not come to war with mankind at the time but rather came to restore the broken “vav” a.k.a “waw” between mankind and YAH Almighty (with particular focus on the broken “vav” between ABBA YAHUVEH, The Heavenly FATHER and man)! During HIS First Coming to the earth, YAHUSHUA came as a Lamb!

During HIS Second Coming which all truly born again (spiritually) believers in and followers of YAHUSHUA HA MASHIACH should be anticipating earnestly, YAHUSHUA will ride on a horse! At that point, HE will come as a Lion and will fight HIS enemies (those who have rejected HIS sacrifice for them)! He will come to war with mankind!

In the same way, locusts are sent to war with mankind who is considered to be enemies with YAH Almighty as the enemies have chosen to be that.

In Mitzrayim/Egypt, the locusts attacked vegetation/plantations thereby destroying the sources of food for the Egyptians. However, in the Great Tribulation, they will attack both vegetation/plantations and mankind (Revelation 9:9).

RENDING OUR HEARTS TO YAH ALMIGHTY GENUINELY, FAITHFULLY AND PERPETUALLY!

 

As per:

Ha Sefer Yerem’YAH(U)/the Book of Jeremiah,

Ha Sefer Yechezk’EL/Book of Ezekiel

and

Tehillim/Psalms 51,

ABBA YAHUVEH is ready to give mankind a new heart – a heart of flesh and purity (holiness plus righteousness) if only mankind comes to HIM!

 

As per the various Biblical accounts, it can be concluded that the locusts are sent as a Sign and Wonder in order to prompt mankind to:

• Turn to YAH Almighty

• Stop practising idolatry

• Stop mixing YAH Almighty with other things, other gods, etc

 

The 10 plagues sent to Mitzrayim/Egypt were related to Pharoah’s heart/lev towards YAH Almighty!

Everytime a plague came and destroyed the land, Pharoah approached Moshe Ha Navi/Prophet Moses with the matter of the condition of his heart towards “I AM WHO I AM” a.k.a YAHUVEH!

 

ABBA YAHUVEH Almighty speaks through Yerem’YAH(U) Ha Navi/Prophet Jeremiah as follows concerning the heart/ha lev of man (mankind generally):

ABBA YAHUVEH Almighty also say the following to HIS People (HE gives a remedy as a sign of HIS Love and desire to restore the heart/ha lev of man but man has approach HIS Throne of Grace/Undeserved Favour first):

The Potter and the Clay

18 The WORD which came to Jeremiah from the LORD YAHUVEH, saying: ² “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” ³ Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the ^[a]wheel. ⁴ And the vessel that he ^[b]made of clay was ^[c]marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.

⁵ Then the WORD of the LORD YAHUVEH came to me, saying: ⁶ “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the LORD YAHUVEH. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!⁷ The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it,⁸ if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. ⁹ And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it,¹⁰ if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it.

¹¹ “Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD YAHUVEH: “Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.” ’ ”

 

In conclusion, being at war with YAH Almighty will take you nowhere in life! It only leads to hell the lake of fire for eternity!

• Turn to YAH Almighty.

• Make YAH Almighty your One and only LORD, SAVIOUR and REDEEMER!

• Get rid of idolatry and other evil practices in your heart (which is part of your soul)!

• Let YAH’S TORAH (which is also YAHUSHUA HA MASHIACH) be your guide and friend! 

• Be holy as YAH Almighty is Holy!

…..Then you will enjoy Eternal Life/Life Everlasting with YAH Almighty (The Holy Trinity GODHEAD) in the New Earth and New Heavens in future!

 

So, back to the word, “Lev” in relation to the “locust plague”,

When the spiritual implications of the “lamed” and ” vav” letters are put together, what do we get?

• Through the Heart of man, the Greatness of YAH Almighty can be displayed greatly if only man totally gives way for YAH to take HIS place/seat there!

• Within the heart, the hook or peg that joins to YAH Almighty in order for man to enjoy life to the fullest (only through YAH’S Way) is embedded.  The main secret to fully and successfully achieving this, is Submission and Obedience to YAH!
