We are celebrating various things during this Festival (all written about on this website). Our joy is full!
- YAHUSHUA HA MASHIACH’S (earthly) birth to Miryam and Joseph.
- YAHUSHUA’S Brit Mila/Circumcision and Naming
- Fall/Autumn Harvest
- YAH’S constant divine protection over us – the feast commemorates YAH’S miraculous protection over the children of Israel as they travelled through the wilderness as they fled Egypt in pursuit of the Promised Land.
- Holy Harvest/Rapture
- Wedding/Marriage Supper of the Lamb of YAH
- YAH Almighty is our roof

- The earth is a temporary place of dwelling and the Shammayim/Heavens is our eternal dwelling place
- Our fleshly bodies are temporary dwelling places. We will get glorified bodies which will be our eternal bodies.
- YAHUSHUA’S Messianic Kingdom and era (which will come after the Great Tribulation/Time of Jacob’s Trouble)
We build the temporary dwellings/huts to remind us of when we wandered in the wilderness. Note that spiritually, the earth is a wilderness for YAHUSHUA’S Bride (and Guests).
Of all Jewish holy days/holidays, Sukkot is the only one which whose date does not seem to commemorate a historic event.
During this week-long holiday, Jews all over the world dine and even sleep in huts (sukkot/succoth a.k.a booths).
The other name for this holiday is MOED HA ASIF (a.k.a Festival of In-gathering) representing a time to give thanks for the bounty of the earth during the Fall/Autumn Harvest. In times past, farmers would farmers would built sukkot (temporary dwellings) near the crops so as to be closeby during the time of harvest. In that way, they benefited more from all their hard work.
It is a mitzvah/commandment to build a sukkah and eat plus sleep in it for seven days.
If you are unable to do so for one reason or the other, Pj library has a good suggestion as follows:
You can create one in your house plus sleep on the flow. If you are able to visit someone who has a sukkah built and join them, then do so.
